Communion & Baptism Ministry

Baptism Baptism is the call of Jesus an expression of your personal faith and a significant step of obedience in your spiritual journey. We baptize by immersion, based both on the New Testament example and by the fact that the original Greek word translated as baptism, “baptizo,” means to immerse, dip under or plunge. Baptism represents death of our old sinful selves and a kind of spiritual rebirth. Romans 6:4 reads, “We were therefore buried with him (Christ) through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may have new life.” If you are considering baptism, we want to encourage you in the decision you are making to be baptized in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! This is an important decision and, hopefully, we can provide helpful information to you.
We conduct immersion baptisms during Sunday morning worship services, Wednesday nights and upon special request. Anyone generally five years and older who knows Jesus Christ as his/her personal Lord and Savior and is ready to confess their faith, may be baptized at Peachtree City Christian Church. We encourage all participants to then meet with a minister on staff to prepare for baptism. You may also attend a Discovery Class for more information.
Baptism shows that you want to follow Jesus’ example. Jesus was baptized not because He had His sins forgiven. He is perfect. Jesus was baptized, in part, as an example for us. Jesus commanded that his followers be baptized (Matt. 28:19). So, when you choose to be baptized, you are being obedient.
Baptism is the sign of the “new covenant,” God’s promise to save His people, the Church. When you are baptized, you are not only identifying yourself with Jesus, but also with the rest of the people He has saved. Baptism shows your commitment to Jesus Christ and the church.

Communion is a way for us to remember God’s love for us and at Peachtree City Christian Church, we participate in communion weekly. It’s overwhelmingly important that we, as God’s people, consistently focus on His unconditional love for us. One of the questions we often get is, why do you observe the Lord’s Supper every week?
First, and most important, we see that it was a weekly practice of the New Testament Christians. We, at PTC3, believe that we ought to follow the principles set forth in the New Testament for our everyday lives. A great example of their involvement in weekly communion is found in Acts 20:7. Paul was with these Christians at Troas, and it reads, “On the first day of the week, we came together to break bread …” It’s clear from this passage, based on the original language and tenses which exist, that the first century Christians met each first day of the week and one of their purposes for meeting was to participate in the Lord’s Supper.
It’s also obvious that the early church had the observance of the Lord’s Supper as an important piece of the very fabric of church life in the first century. Acts 2:42, for instance, reads that the early Christians “… devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” It’s interesting to note that virtually every Christian denomination incorporates the three elements of fellowship, the apostles’ teaching and prayer as a part of their weekly worship. We, as a part of the non-denominational Christian Churches choose to have all four parts as a part of our weekly regular worship opportunities.
